Coming from a new duo of bestselling authors, The Checkmate Duet

*An enemies to lovers romance*

Travis King is the worst kind of asshole.
He taunts me for being a good girl and mocks my high standards.
He’s cruel, crass, and has enough confidence to last two lifetimes.
And I hate him.

It wouldn’t matter so much if he were avoidable.

But considering he’s my older brother’s best friend and roommate, I see him more than I’d ever want to.

His sculpted abs and gorgeous eyes are wasted on such an arrogant man, which makes me hate him even more.

Even though I’ve had a crush on him since I was ten, the feelings weren’t mutual and he’s made that very clear.

He’s always loved getting under my skin and one night against my better judgment, I let him in my bed.

I’ve succumbed to his manwhore ways, but that doesn’t change a thing.

Because the King is about to get played at his own game—and lose.

Checkmate.

This has been one of the best enemies-to-lovers stories I’ve read! And this is only the first book! I am really excited to see how things progress in book 2. I know I will definitely love it, especially if book 1 was really good. 🙂

I have always been a fan of enemies to lovers books. I like the tension and suspense the characters bring to the story while we anxiously wait for them to realize that they should be together. I like the banter between the characters, the hatred they think they have for each other that leads to them being at each others throats all the time. The bickering and back and forth commentary between the characters bring life and excitement to the story. Which is how they develop their chemistry, at least in my opinion.
The way Travis and Viola were towards each other was like foreplay for both. Leave them alone together and things are bound to get hot. I’m glad they were able to talk a little about why they hate each other but we learn a lot about both since its dual POV. And with the ending we got, I know book 2 is going to be just as exciting!
